Adam is our specialist information governance lead with a long career working extensively with NHS trusts, CCG’s, private healthcare providers and digital health technology companies. His true expertise lies in data protection and privacy law, information risk management, data flow mapping and the practical application of data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) and information sharing agreements (ISA), making him a trusted advisor and communicator across the industry.
Adam is also a lover of the great outdoors. You’ll often find him exploring the UK in his VW campervan looking for the next mountain to climb or stream to cross. On top of this, he’s been volunteering with the Scout Association as an Explorer Scout Leader for over 10 years, supporting young people to learn skills for life. Adam also enjoys playing the guitar, although we hear this enjoyment isn’t always shared by those who have to listen to him!
In 2019, two professionals with complementary backgrounds came together to create something special.
While working on a complex project with Surrey NHS Integrated Care System (ICS) to allow local patients to access and control their health records, our founders identified a critical gap: the adoption of innovative technology by the NHS was often held back by complex governance challenges which many companies were struggling to comply with.
The UK and NHS had rightly set far-reaching standards to make sure that suppliers adhered to the same rigorous standards expected of staff, ensuring the safety and quality of patient care.
However, complying with these standards could be a challenge requiring capacity or domain expertise beyond that typically available to younger, more innovative businesses.
The founders believed that the right guidance and support, offered at the right time, could help businesses to meet these standards – improving their commercial success and ensuring the NHS could harness the innovation on offer within the healthtech sector.
And that’s how 8foldGovernance was born.
